UPDATE: The Town of Paradise is advising that due to unforeseen circumstances the planned detour for St. Thomas Line is deferred for one week. The detour will now start 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 5. The same detour routes will be in effect at that time. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
The Town of Paradise is advising that effective 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, a section of St. Thomas Line, between Hickey’s Road and Deborah Lynn Heights, will be closed to all traffic. The road closure is anticipated for the week, with St. Thomas Line reopening to regular traffic on Friday afternoon, November 2.
Traffic travelling northbound on St. Thomas Line will be detoured through Paradise Road and Camrose Drive, while southbound traffic will be detoured through Deborah Lynn Heights. The map outlines the detour routes. Access will be maintained to Hamilton’s Grocery during the road work.
The road closure is required as part of water and sewer work ongoing in the area and is needed to accommodate the installation of underground infrastructure.
The Town has several traffic calming measures in place along the detour routes, including:
- placing appropriate signage in construction area and along detour routes,
- increasing monitoring of construction site and detour route by Town officials and Municipal Enforcement, and
- liaising with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to increase patrols in the area.
During construction, the public is reminded to proceed with caution and to reduce speeds in construction zones and detour routes. The Town of Paradise apologizes for the inconvenience this road work may cause.
