The Town of Paradise has added a new feature to its website enabling residents to track snow clearing equipment. Paradise Plow Tracker shows a Town map providing the approximate location of snow clearing equipment in operation. The information displayed is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes.
“We understand that our residents want timely information about our snow clearing operations, particularly during snow falls and storms. With the Paradise Plow Tracker residents can see where equipment is in operation throughout the Town,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett.
Snow clearing operations in Paradise are done on a priority basis by arterial road (Topsail Road), collector roads (St. Thomas Line, Paradise Road, Karwood Drive, McNamara Drive, Elizabeth Drive, Carlisle Drive, and Brougham Drive), and local roads (side roads and cul-de-sacs). During the peak of a snow clearing event, the focus is to keep arterial and collector roads open. Local roads are cleared when, and as required, after arterial and collector roads are done.
Road crews work as efficiently as they safely can under a variety of weather conditions to clear eight separate routes within the Town. Under normal winter storm events, the goal is to complete each route within a six to eight hour period after the time the storm has ended. Street widening begins once all streets have been addressed (weather permitting).
“The Paradise Plow Track is our latest step in keeping our residents informed and up-to-date on Town operations and activities,” said Mayor Bobbett. “Our crews work hard to clear our 291 streets, which is over 300 kilometres of roadway, and I am proud of the snow clearing work they do.”
